FAQs

It's tough to cover all of the questions that families need answered right out of the gate. I've answered some frequently asked questions below, and if you’re still curious about anything at all, I’ll be happy to give you the answers you need. Please feel free to reach out.

ARE YOUR CHILDCARE SERVICES LICENSED IN ONTARIO?

My childcare services are not licensed by the Government of Ontario. Childcare of this nature allows for private arrangements to be made between the parents and the caregiver. My home and vehicle insurance provider, along with the associated underwriters, are aware of the childcare services that I provide, and issue insurance accordingly.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF CHILDREN YOU CARE FOR AT ONCE?

My favourite number of children to care for is 3. It's a number that works well with my style while also providing the kids with companionship and variety in our days. At times I will care for 4 children in order to accommodate siblings, but that is the most I accept on a full-time basis and is uncommon on a long term basis.

WILL YOU STILL PROVIDE CARE IF MY CHILD IS FEELING UNWELL?

Short answer, yes. Long answer, it depends on several factors. But generally speaking, unwell children are permitted to continue with care and I'll adjust our plans to ensure we can rest at home while I provide all of the love and nurturing needed. This is a double-edged sword of course, as I general work with 2-3 families and it means other sick children may be around your healthy child.

MY BABY NEEDS TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. CAN YOU TAKE HER?

Most definitely! I'm more than happy to get children to their appointments as part of my regular care so long as we plan the date and timing together in advance.

CAN YOU PROVIDE EVENING, WEEKEND OR OVERNIGHT CARE?

I can provide all of the above for my families to ensure your little ones are with someone they trust when you need to be away. Rates vary depending on the type of care needed.

ARE YOU ABLE TO BATH OUR INFANT AS PART OF YOUR ROUTINE?

Baths are a favourite activity of ours, and often a necessity after many of our activities and outings. After all, getting messy is part of the fun. Making baths part of the routine for infants is no issue at all.

WHAT ARE THE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHILDREN?

I have 3 bedrooms and 4 playpens that are used for naptime, with dedicated sheets and sleepsacs for each child. Infants will be given priority for private bedrooms. Toddlers may need to share on occasion but as it's uncommon for me to be caring for 4 children this is rare.

HOW DO YOU ACCOMMODATE VARYING NAP ROUTINES?

Quite frankly, experience. Sleep schedules and children's needs are constantly evolving and I'm accustomed to adapting as necessary. It's important to note, however, that napping on-the-go is absolutely going to happen and will be balanced appropriately with naps at home.

HOW DO YOU TRAVEL WITH THE CHILDREN ON YOUR OUTINGS?

I own a 7 seat SUV and provide all of the necessary (current and high-quality) child restraints as required by law for maximum safety of the children. I can provide families with driver abstracts dating all the way back to 2008 to ensure they are comfortable with my safe driving record.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH ON DIGITAL DEVICES AND MEDIA?

For children under two years old, there will be no television or digital devices allowed, with a few special exceptions. For children over two years old, digital content will still be kept at an absolute minimum and the vast majority of our days will be entirely device free.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE BREASTMILK FOR FEEDING?

Absolutely! I have plenty of experience managing breastmilk and working with mothers to ensure that breastfeeding can be a success, even when returning to work early is on the agenda.

CAN YOU WORK WITHIN SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Possibly, depending on how restrictive it is. It's safe to say that it's not my specialty. Due to the nature of my care and the regularity in which we are out and about, it can be difficult for me to accommodate dietary constraints while still remaining flexible and this would require further discussion.
